About SuncrestKids

Welcome to the Children’s Ministry of Suncrest Christian Church! SuncrestKids is uniquely designed for kids birth through 5th grade where our goal is to grab your child’s attention so that they can learn the exciting story of Jesus and His love for them! We do this through engaging environments, creative teaching, meaningful relationships with everyday people just like you and fun! We all work together to teach kids that they can be used by God to change lives!

In SuncrestKids, we know that parents are more comfortable attending the worship service when they feel confident that their child is safe and having a great time.

SuncrestKids check-in closes 15 minutes after the start of each service.

We start with safe people and spaces. Every volunteer who serves in SuncrestKids has been screened, background checked, and trained. Your child will have a great time in an environment that is designed just for them with age-appropriate furnishings and toys.

Having fun isn’t far behind. Kids just wanna have fun! Learning about God should never be boring so we build fun into every part of SuncrestKids.

Our Age Ranges

Early Childhood (Infants – Kindergarten)

SuncrestKids for early childhood is created especially for your infant (four weeks) through kindergarten-aged children. We can’t wait to meet them! We know things are busy at this stage of life and your children are learning and growing in amazing ways. We are ready for them! We believe in an active, hands-on approach to learning. So, you can plan on a lot of jumping, singing, dancing, and laughter in every experience. Be on the lookout for fun crafts and big games. We look forward to helping your kids learn more about God.

Elementary (1st – 5th Grades)

We believe the Bible should never be boring, worship can be really loud, and good leaders always care. The focus of SuncrestKids for elementary-aged kids is our small group environment. We want kids to see how God’s Word fits into their lives, to learn how to talk to Him, and to build friendships that will last.

Kids with Special Needs

Every child is special in SuncrestKids and we want you to feel terrific about bringing your child with special needs to SuncrestKids! If your child would benefit from some special accommodations, please contact us so that we can help create the perfect opportunity for your child to learn about Jesus.

Please plan to arrive a few minutes early so that we can help your child get settled in their class without causing you to miss even a minute of the worship service.

When you register your child, we provide you and your child matching identification tags that are exclusive to your family and your visit. The nametag portion worn by your child bears a code that matches your portion of the tag. During checkout, you will present the tag matching your child’s nametag, and they will be released back to you.

We use a service to text your mobile phone during service should your child need you.

Around Suncrest you’ll hear us use the term “milestones.” Milestones basically refer to different stages in a child’s faith development where SuncrestKids intentionally offers an opportunity for parents and their children to take notice of God’s work in their lives.

SuncrestKids desires to come alongside parents and kids during a few key transition times, not to be the “experts” who have all the answers but to encourage parents in their role as the primary spiritual influence by asking good questions, providing resources and encouragement.

The milestones

1: Dedication2: Intentions3: Foundations

Milestone 1: Parent/Child Dedication (birth – age 4)

Dedication is all about parents and their commitment to raise their child to know and love Jesus. This milestone is offered twice a year, usually late Spring and early December.

Milestone 2: Intentions (4-6 year olds)

Intentions is about helping parents help their kids build a spiritual foundation. This Saturday morning workshop gives young parents and their children a hands-on opportunity to take some first faith steps together. Here are a few things we cover:

  • Noticing God at work around us
  • Talking to God
  • Kids can make a difference

This milestone is offered twice a year, usually late Winter and Summer.

Milestone 3: Foundations (7-11 year olds)

Foundations is all about the kids and helping them begin their own faith journey. During this three-week class for kids and their parents, your child will gain a basic understanding of the Christian faith. This milestone provides an opportunity for parents, children and church to work together to lay a strong foundation for a child’s faith. This milestone is generally offered on Sunday mornings, three-four times a year.
