Values
Cultivate [a personal relationship with Jesus] :: We term this the ‘momently’ life. We seek to integrate Christian faith into all areas of life instead of separating life into "sacred" and "secular". The call to be ‘disciples’ of Jesus intrude on, infuse, and revolutionize every area of our lives. We want to see people deeply connected to God in all of life; body, mind, and soul. Having a momently conversation with God and observation of what His Spirit is doing in and around us effects how we value ourselves, others, and the creation around us. We are to be watchful and worshipful every moment of our lives. We trust God with our lives and have a heart willing to follow Jesus wherever He leads us to or through. We do not regard regimens, but we passionately model Christ’s patterns in the ways that He pursued intimacy with His Father; prayer, fasting, meditation, sacrificing, and absorbing the written Word.
Connect [in relationships where truth meets life] :: We believe that the Christian faith is a call to community, therefore, we seek to establish a family of pilgrims on a journey of faith together. Christ calls us out of individualism and towards a life focused on the well-being of others.
Our hope is that this church will be something entirely different than a provider of religious goods and services where people come once a week to have their needs serviced by trained professionals. Rather, we dream of throwing our lives together as a covenant community- a group of people committed to seeking God together, to serving the world together, and to being there for one another through the joys and trials of life. We believe that everyone wants to be a part of a community that’s bigger than they are, yet intimate enough to know that they matter, are valued, and have purpose. Authentic, meaning non-pretending, communities are hard to come by. We want to be a movement of people who live, move, and have our being together, with Christ as our center.
Care [about people who feel far from God]:: We want to develop a consistent feel to what we do- a voice that we speak with. Our desire is that it would be one of hope, unconditional love, mercy, and grace. We are not naive to think that we bring Jesus anywhere. He’s already there and always involved. We just are intentional about joining Him where He’s already at.
Too often faith devolves into religiosity and what ought to be a life-giving message becomes merely a checklist of items to believe and behaviors to adopt. Somehow, Jesus' message gets reduced to a list of do’s and do not’s. We see the beauty in the messiness of life. You are desired and accepted for who you really are, not for who you wish you were or others think you should be. We walk together with a sense of love and hope.
Contribute [by serving]:: We reflect Christ by serving - for the good of our community and for the sake of others. We are not separatists who ‘give back’ to the community, we are the community. As we follow Christ we too must come “not to be served, but to serve.” We never want to treat serving like a ‘to do list.’ It’s who we are. It’s what we do because we love God and love people. God has a heart for the poor, the marginalized, and the oppressed. We are committed to being a community that is known by our desire to give our time, resources, and energy to causes that God cares about. It is not about what we do, it’s about our DNA - who we are – the hands, feet, and heart of Christ.
