Greg Lee, Lead Pastor
Greg's blog
Doug is from Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plain. In other words, he feels at home in the windy environment of Northwest Indiana. He is married to Sheila and has four children, Ethan, Daisy, Grace, and Benjamin. As one of the pastors, he loves helping people get started at Suncrest and shares in the teaching on Sunday morning. "I love helping people discover and sometimes rediscover how life changing Jesus is." Doug enjoys reading, movies, music, and running (except in the winter).
Mary Beth enjoys spending time with her husband Bill and two sons Zack and Mack. They love to camp, travel (especially anywhere with beaches and mountains), and watch the White Sox. She is passionate about helping people get connected into group life because it was a group environment where she took her first steps as a Christ-follower. You couldn't ask for a better fit. "I love people!" she says. "I love helping them get connected and watching them take their next steps as they look to grow closer to God."
David came to Suncrest after spending almost 20 years in an agricultural business in Illinois. "It took God a while to get my full attention; fortunately, he did not give up!" David enjoys travel, genealogy, and reading. He and his wife, Linda, have two daughters who "keep life interesting and challenging." He loves working on the "Contribute by Serving" at Suncrest because he has seen how excited and blessed people feel after they have served.
Sue has been at Suncrest since the beginning. She loves to see kids contribute with a heart and passion for Jesus. Suncrest kids are "good news" to others who don't yet know Suncrest as their church home. She's thankful for Suncrest parents who want their kids to "win" by being connected to those who model the life of a Christ-follower. Sue also enjoys the Cubs, NASCAR, and IU Men's Basketball.
Julie and Scott have five wonderful children, two cats, and a dog. She'd love to say she loves peace and quiet, but she's not sure she remembers quite what that is. She loves sports (especially running, basketball, and soccer), helping in their kids' schools, and she's a big fan of just hanging out with family and friends. "Being a part of children's ministry is such fun, and one of my favorite parts is connecting with the parents and getting to know them as well as their very special children."
Jared is a Starbucks addict and life-long St. Louis Cardinals fan who also cheers for The Ohio State Buckeyes. Jared and his wife Amy have one son, Gibson (named after the World Series Champion and Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Gibson). Jared loves being able to "do life" with the students of Suncrest and their friends.
Scott comes from a small family with only one older brother. Living here marks his first move of his life outside of Virginia Beach (other than college). He loves Student Life Ministry because teens have such an opportunity to change the world today. Also, since many people make a decision for Christ during their teens, he gets to see students begin their spiritual journey. Scott also enjoys Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, drums, and muscle cars.
After 14 years of being a single father to his son Matthew, Mike decided to marry "up". His wife, Dr. Laura, keeps him in line and makes him take ballroom dance lessons. Can life get any better? He submits that it cannot. All areas of ministry are important. He gets to keep his finger on the pulse of the church's finance, facilities, personnel, and other areas of administration. "It's a happenin' ministry at a happenin' church!" Mike also enjoys the New York Yankees, the world's only true racing (Formula 1), and old, loud rock music.
